Nouveaux décodages high-tech des émotions : une perspective critique

Abstract : This article opens by establishing a possible link between the deciphering of non-verbal communications and the introduction of new emotion monitoring devices. It begins by describing a new type of electroencephalograph and computer mouse which may be capable of interpreting individual affects. Then, a theory of emotions is addressed to show how it seems unlikely to claim to be able to decipher emotions without taking context and interaction or communication situations into account. An attempt at projection into hypothetical use cases is then done, from the viewpoint of actors of substantial size, having aggregate data. The article closes on an invitation to think critically about these new technologies harbingered as capable of decoding emotions, just as is the case with regards to neuromarketing.
