Introduction To misquote an observation frequently attributed to Mark Twain, and at the risk of stating what should be rather obvious by now - even from within the current socio-economic paradigm - land is not being made much anymore (taking volcanic islands and polders apart). It is hardly surprising, therefore, that spatial planning policy is becoming an increasingly contentious issue in such a densely populated country as England, where the mantra of economic growth continues to be chante...
